PERIGEE is an independent watchmaking project. This page sets out how to read the site. It is written for what the site does today, which is describe a watch and hold a waiting list.
Nothing here is for sale yet
No order can be placed on this site, no payment is taken, and no watch is reserved for anyone. When that changes, this page will change first and the site will say plainly that it is taking orders.
The waiting list
Joining costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It is not an order, a reservation, a deposit, or a place in a queue. It means one thing: I have your email address and I will use it once, to tell you when the first run opens. You can ask to be removed at any time by writing to [email protected]. What happens to your address in the meantime is set out in the privacy policy.
Being on the list does not guarantee that a watch will be available to you, or that the watch will be made at all. This is a first production run by one person and it can be delayed or abandoned.
The price
The figure shown on the site is what I expect to charge. It is not an offer and it is not a quote. It can move in either direction before orders open, and the price that binds anyone is the one shown at the moment an order is actually placed.
The specification
The specification on the site describes the watch as currently designed and it can change before the first run ships. Two details are worth reading closely, because both are stated the same way everywhere on the site:
- The water resistance is the case maker's rating on a sealed case. Every watch gets opened by hand to fit its dial and then resealed, so treat 200 m (20 bar) as a rating rather than a depth I have pressure tested.
- No two dials are the same. The foil is folded and bonded by hand, and the crease and fold pattern is different on every one. The photographs show the first finished watch. Yours will catch the light its own way, and that variation is the product working as intended, not a fault.
The photographs
Every image of the watch on this site is a photograph of a real finished watch, taken by me. None of them is a render. The archive film in the material chapter is public domain NASA footage, credited where it appears.
NASA
PERIGEE is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NASA. The dial is made from the same class of material used on spacecraft. It has never been to orbit, and nothing on this site suggests it has.
What belongs to whom
The text, photographs, and design of this site are mine, except for the NASA material, which is public domain. Please do not republish the photographs as your own. Linking to the site, quoting it, or writing about it is welcome and needs no permission.
The site itself
I keep the site accurate and correct mistakes when I find them. It is still an informational page run by one person, offered as it is, and it may be offline or out of date at times. Nothing on it is professional advice of any kind.
